The LME and its agents have prepared simulated past performance figures for LMEX , which are detailed on the attached spreadsheets. There is also a detailed explanation as to how the index is constructed and how these past performance figures have been achieved. The performance figures are divided into two spreadsheets which show the simulated performance for the periods 1984–1992 and 1992–2000.
There is no certainty that if LMEX had existed during these periods its performance would have been as shown by the simulated figures. For example, the trading of futures and options contracts based on LMEX may affect the prices of the underlying metals. This factor is not included in the simulation. The calculations of the simulated performance are based on certain assumptions; different assumptions may produce different results.
